The Osun State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has vowed to vote out Governor Ademola Adeleke in the 2026 gubernatorial election.
Naija News reports that the leadership of the Osun NURTW took this decision at a meeting in Ilesa on Wednesday.
Addressing journalists on behalf of the Osun NURTW Central Working Committee (CWC), the Acting Chairman, Kazeem Oyewale, decried the maltreatment meted out to the members of the Union by Adeleke’s administration since its inception.
Oyewale stressed that no stone would be left unturned to ensure the return of APC to government in 2026, noting that Governor Adeleke, on assumption of office, sacked members from operating and replaced them with the Park Manager system.
The acting NURTW Chairman, while acknowledging the non-partisanship of the Union, noted that it has become imperative for the members to align with the political party that recognizes their existence and champions the welfare and general well-being of its members.
He said, “Those who are suffering in this government of Adeleke are many, and our members are part of them because he sacked them when he assumed office in 2022.
“There is no gainsaying; anybody who sees the sacking of people needs to work assiduously to ensure that he gets sacked. Our members are fully ready to ensure that we sack Adeleke while seeking re-election in 2026.
“It is on record that our Union was scrapped immediately the incumbent Governor took over the mantle of leadership of the state, and since then hundreds of our members have been rendered jobless, idle, and redundant for no just cause.
“While we remain resolute in our determination to take back our position as it used to be in the past, before the inception of the present government, we are equally ready to give our absolute support to the party that recognized us while in government, and I can assure you that very soon our position will be restored.”
