The new season of the Most Important League (MNL) is set to kick off with 36 teams vying for supremacy.
Divided into four conferences—A, B, C, and D—the teams are gearing up for a challenging and exciting competition that will crown a new champion at the end of the season.
In Conference A, notable contenders include Edel FC from Anambra, Warri Wolves, and Beyond Limits from Ikenne. Conference B features Lagos-based Madiba FC, Gateway United from Abeokuta, and Sporting Lagos.
Conference C will see northern teams like Sokoto United, Gombe United, and Wikki Tourists from Bauchi compete for dominance, while Conference D showcases teams from the central and northern regions such as Yobe Desert Stars, Adamawa United, and Kada Warriors from Kaduna.
The season’s curtain-raiser, a “Star Match,” is scheduled for November 30th, 2024, marking the official start of the competition.
One week later, the action will continue across all four conferences with the first round of fixtures. The Chief Operating Officer of the MNL, Dr. Ayo Abdulrahaman, emphasized the importance of the November 30th start date, urging clubs to complete their registration and licensing by November 24th, 2024.
Dr. Abdulrahaman also highlighted the steps taken to ensure a smoother and more efficient season, noting that the league’s rules and regulations have been updated and distributed to all participating teams following the amendments made at the last NNL Annual Congress in Bauchi.
“We are aiming for an improved season,” Dr. Abdulrahaman said. “The success of this depends on the cooperation of the clubs, and we are calling on them to work with us for a memorable league.
The updated rules provide clear guidelines, including protocols for handling disputes, to keep everyone aligned throughout the season.”
With all teams now in possession of their fixtures and the guidelines, anticipation is high as fans and clubs look forward to another thrilling season of football in the MNL.
