Independence Day: Walk The Path Of Progress - Senator Kingibe To Leaders

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senator, Ireti Kingibe, has called on leaders to walk the path of progress for the benefit of the country.

Senator Kingibe regretted that amidst human and natural resources in the country, Nigeria’s progress has yet to reach its potential peak.

In her Independence Day message, on Tuesday, she noted that many Nigerians struggle with poverty, insecurity and lack access to basic necessities, while corruption and poor governance have weakened the country’s institutions.

As the senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, I stand with fellow citizens in commemorating this important milestone. Today, we reflect on our nation’s long journey toward development and sovereignty. Despite the abundant natural, human, and material resources with which we have been blessed, our progress has often been stifled by a range of challenges that continue to hold us back.

“The reality is that many of our people still struggle with poverty, insecurity, and lack of access to basic necessities, while corruption and poor governance have weakened our institutions. Yet, in the spirit of optimism, we must remember that Nigeria’s founding leaders faced their own trials and tribulations. They led with vision, strength, and a commitment to building a united and prosperous nation. We must draw strength from their legacy as we chart a path forward,
” she said.

Mrs. Kingibe enjoined Nigerians to keep hope alive. She added that with God’s grace, Nigeria would be transformed.

I remain hopeful about our future. With significant strides made in various sectors and the unmatched resilience of our people, I believe we have the potential to overcome our present difficulties. But this requires leadership that is sincere, focused, and determined to steer Nigeria in the right direction.

“As we celebrate this anniversary, let us recommit ourselves to the task of nation-building. We must prioritize unity, equity, and justice, while striving for sustainable development in all sectors. I urge our leadership, in particular, to walk the path of progress, drawing inspiration from the vision of our founding fathers. With God’s grace and our collective efforts, we can transform Nigeria into the nation we all dream of,
” the Labour Party Senator added.
