Despite a challenging start to the 2024-2025 season, Manchester United remains committed to manager Erik ten Hag for the upcoming matches against Porto and Aston Villa.
Following the disappointing 3-0 defeat against Tottenham, Erik Ten Hag expressed his confidence in his position and emphasized that he is aligned with the club’s owners.
When asked if he was thinking about his future at the club after United’s defeat to Spurs, Ten Hag said, “No, I am not thinking about this.”
He added, “We all made this decision to stay together, as an ownership, as a leadership group in the summer.
“Also, we decided for a clear review of what we have to improve as an organisation and how we want to construct a squad.
“But we knew it would take some time because of how the window went, some players late in like [Manuel] Ugarte. Also, we have to make some improvements in the organisation; we still have some injuries, and we need some time.
“We are all on one page or in one boat together – the ownership, the leadership group, the staff and the players as well. I don’t have that concern.”
In line with Erik ten Hag’s comments on Sunday, reports from Sky Sports and the BBC claimed that the club’s leadership is taking a careful approach and will not rush into any decisions based on recent results as the Dutch coach faces a crucial week with important fixtures ahead.
Hence, the Manchester United board has decided to stick with Ten Hag as they continue to hope for an improved performance going forward.
Note that after significant changes in the club’s board and a busy summer transfer window, there was optimism heading into the season.
However, the team’s performance has not lived up to expectations, with several concerning statistics highlighting the need for improvement.
While the team has shown defensive improvement with clean sheets in half of their league matches, their goal-scoring record needs work, with only five goals scored in six league games so far this season.
