Chidera Ejuke

Spanish La Liga side Sevilla, has officially announced that their Nigerian star, Chidera Ejuke, will be sidelined for an extended period due to a high-grade hamstring injury.

This setback is expected to keep Chidera Ejuke off the pitch for approximately three months, significantly impacting the team’s lineup.

The 26-year-old winger sustained the injury during Sevilla’s recent match against Barcelona, where they faced a disappointing defeat, ending 5-1 at the Nou Camp. The injury occurred in the first half, prompting the coaching staff to substitute him with Albert Sambi Lokonga as they sought to adjust to the challenging circumstances.

Following the match, Ejuke underwent a series of medical tests on Monday. Earlier today, Sevilla provided an update via their official X account, detailing the severity of his injury.

The post also mentioned that fellow player Suso has suffered a low-grade thigh injury, indicating some depth in injury issues for the team. The club expressed their support with a message: “Come back stronger, lads.”

Since joining the club, Chidera Ejuke has made nine appearances this season, contributing one goal to Sevilla’s campaign. His absence will likely be felt not only on the field but also in team morale as they navigate the ongoing season.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel is generating interest from Premier League clubs after reportedly rejecting a new contract offer from Fenerbahce. The 26-year-old right-back currently finds himself in a contractual dispute with the Turkish club, which runs until the summer of 2025.

Reports indicate that Osayi-Samuel has declined Fenerbahce’s proposal, which was a net salary of €2.5 million per year.

The two parties are said to be €1 million apart in negotiations, making it challenging to reach a mutually acceptable agreement.

As the contract allows him to negotiate with foreign clubs starting January 1, Osayi-Samuel’s future is now a topic of speculation. If he does not receive a satisfactory offer, he is poised to leave Fenerbahce when his contract ends next summer.
