Tinubu Is Not Leading By Example - Tomori

A professor of virology and elderstatesman, Oyewale Tomori, has called out the government of President Bola Tinubu over the hardship in the country.

The 78-year-old professor lamented that Nigeria got destroyed through wrong policies.

Speaking as a guest on the Sunday edition of Inside Sources with Laolu Akande on Channels TV, Tomori submitted that while the current administration of President Tinubu is telling the citizens to tighten their budget and spending, the government is spending lavishly.

The elder statesman decried the harsh economic situation in the country.

He also lamented the inability of the various religions in the country to drive transformation because they have also been overtaken by the rot and decay in the society.

Tomori said if care is not taken, Nigeria is heading for an abyss, with the rot in education, health, security, and the economy.

He added that COVID-19 played no part in destroying the Nigerian economy, asserting that “We destroyed our economy ourselves” through wrong policies.

He added, “They told us to wait that things will get better but it’s a bit difficult to believe that. Hope should be the last thing to die in us but in terms of what we are seeing, one is not encouraged.

“If you tell me to cut your coat according to your size, you don’t go and buy another coat for yourself. That is where leadership comes in. We are hearing about tightening but we are not seeing it.”
